Skunked Fishing

This all started on a weekend camping at the lake. My kids and I head out early in the morning to catch some fish. My kids and I do the same routine when we launch the boat and head out to the middle of the lake. We Stop... we get our rods ready with our set up. We Start the boat... We Drop... We engage motor and... We Troll!!! My daughter said these exact words on this day and it was the cutest, most perfect saying which was the absolute truth.

We do it every time we fish in the boat... and have success. From this moment the thought of a picture or logo with this slogan would not leave my brain. An idea and a goal came to light!!

We head to our favourite spot and have success. As we were leaving the launch another boat was heading out, we said good luck, enjoy your day. Thinking nothing about it, we carried on with our weekend. The next morning we headed out in the morning again. We saw the family that we ran into the previous day and asked how there fishing went... the little boy said.. we didn't catch anything. We got Skunked!! The kids and I replied.. "next time champ!" We headed to our spot and again, had success and continued on with our day. The next morning we went out and caught fish and enjoyed the sunrise. As we headed in we saw the same family heading out again. I saw the looks on the faces and thought to myself... share the stone pile with them (our secret spot). Shine some light on their fishing experience. So... that is what I did!! I shared with them the location, the set up, the bait, the depth and the best part... my passion of fishing. Later that afternoon, my kids and I were at our site getting ready for the evening fire, food, fun, etc. We heard voices and yelling and within minutes, these young kids skidded their bicycle tires in our campsite and yelled up..." We Caught Fish Sir, thank you, thank you!" With smiles from ear to ear... my smile followed suit!! The parents arrived shortly after and were very thankful for the act of kindness by sharing with them a secret fishing spot. It brought joy to the entire family, catching fish for the first time.

I shared a secret and created a happy moment, made new friends, enjoyed laughs, brought community together and most importantly... Nobody got Skunked!!

From this moment on, my kids started drawing different ideas and we brought them to life and are now sharing them. Without the kids efforts.... we would not have any designs to share with All of you!!

Giving back is where Our commitment lies within the community and helping to sustain a good fishery across the Province. With each purchase made, Skunked Fishing will donate to the Fish and Wildlife Development Fund to help stock the lakes in Saskatchewan. There are more than 140 stocked lakes where we live.
