About Cribwolf

The Cribwolf Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to help meet the growing demand for accessible supportive housing in Canada. As a proud member of the Intentional Community Consortium (ICC) we support an inclusive community-based housing strategy that envisions collaborating partners building housing developments modelled on the success of existing projects, such as the building and programming at the Reena Community Residence. By pursuing a coordinated multi-community effort, and implementing scale and shared learning, we increase our potential to generate positive results and successfully create a significant number of housing units designed for individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and other similar support needs.

The Cribwolf Foundation was founded in 2016 by two Canadians, Lino Fera and Mathews Kanjirappallil. As a parent of a special needs adult, Lino has an insider perspective on the needs, wants, obstacles, and limitations facing these individuals and their caregivers, and the difficulties of succession planning for life-long care. Mathews has a long personal history of community leadership and volunteering, and has championed fundraising events for Community Living Burlington for a number of years in support of those with special needs. The Cribwolf Foundation provides a platform for tangible action to solve the issues surrounding the quality of life that individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities both deserve and require.

Our organizational mandate is to identify, fund, and construct architecturally friendly housing solutions to directly address the housing crisis affecting special needs individuals in our communities, to ensure they are given the ability to have fulfilling lives and receive proper care in a nurturing and safe environment. The Cribwolf Foundation supports the belief that our communities are enriched when all members are able to live and thrive, regardless of their intellectual and/or developmental capabilities.
